SCDT’s Hatchery Dance Company is an experimental movement/music based performance company for young artists. Hatchery has grown and is now able to offer THREE DISTINCT PROGRAMS FOR AGES 11-18. Hatchery is more than a company, it’s a family and a safe, dynamic environment where teens experience what it’s like to be part of an inclusive performing arts community.
Unique in the Pioneer Valley, SCDT's Hatchery program offers training in contemporary dance forms such as Modern, Improvisation, Contemporary Ballet, African Diaspora forms, Composition and performance Production. Hatchery offers opportunities for teens to work closely with internationally acclaimed guest artists to create choreographic works or simply to take class.Hatchery is a good fit for you if you love to dance, move, create, and perform in a non-traditional and non-competitive environment. Under the direction of Jennifer Polins, Kate Martel and Tyler Gorman, Hatchery members receive mentorship from experts in the field to create dynamic, inspiring performances for the Pioneer Valley and beyond.
Hatchery performs biannually, has shared work at Jacob’s Pillow, and partners with several youth companies including One Earth Dance/Drum Co (Amherst, MA), First Generation (Holyoke, MA), and Portland Youth Dance(Portland, ME).
