DESCRIPTION:Guitarist Robby Roiter is joined by three dynamic young musicians for an hour of jazz & more. \n\nRobby hails from NYC & moved to the Pioneer Valley in 1987. He performs frequently in solo & group jazz settings\,\nincluding the Butterfly Swing Band and a duo with Brian Bender. Robby also facilitates the weekly jam session at the Vermont Jazz Center\,\n\n& teaches music at Gerry's Music Shop & Downtown Sounds Workers Co-op. \n\n\nVocalist Avery Joi\, from Westfield\, has performed in many regional venues & events. She is adept in jazz tradition & studied at Jazz in July & the Vermont Jazz Center. Avery is also skilled in contemporary popular vocal styles\, & brings energy & nuance to every performance. \n\n\nDrummer Jahian Cooper-Monize ventured from his Pioneer Valley roots to study & graduate from William Paterson College in NJ\, where he established relationships with top tier musicians & honed his craft in the NYC jazz scene & Hartford. Jahian performs in various groups & is in demand as a strong professional voice on his instrument. \n\nBassist Kai Caban attended Holyoke Community College & Amherst Regional HS\, & is an accomplished\, soulful upright & electric bass player. He current plays in the band Galvanizer & various other configurations.

She first trained and worked as a puppeteer for Kids on the Block (national) and Blue Sky Puppet Theater (University Park\, Maryland). In 2003 she was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to study puppetry in India as a tool for social change and education. But France’s love affair with the royals sours as revolution brews\, and for Marie\, the political suddenly becomes very personal. From the light and breezy banter at the palace to the surging chants of “Liberté\, Egalité\, Fraternité!” in the streets\, “Marie Antoinette” holds a mirror up to our contemporary society that might just be entertaining itself to death. \nThis production is directed by Mariana Considine ‘25. DESCRIPTION:Open hours at MHC's Williston Observatory! Guests may tour the observatory\, the oldest operational building on campus\, and enjoy a chance to look through a variety of telescopes\, including the Clark telescope and our brand new Unistellar eVscope 2s\, to see your favorite celestial objects! Light refreshments will be provided. \nIn the case of rain or cloudy weather\, tours of the observatory will still take place\, but telescope viewing may be limited. \nThe event will be held from 8:00pm-10:00pm at Williston Observatory on Jewett Lane in South Hadley\, across the street from the main gates of Mount Holyoke College campus. There is limited parking available at the Observatory. Please be cautious\, as there will be telescopes and stargazers present in the parking lot.
