(The painting was stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990 and has never been recovered.) This concert will be a reproduction of the music these musicians might have played\, sampling from works widely available in Rotterdam in the 1650s\, including then-popular Roman cantatas written for the instruments and voice depicted in the painting.\nThis program will be performed twice in the Warbeke Room at Mount Holyoke College\, an ideal space for this intimate repertoire. \nTicket link: Vermeer's "The Concert"

DESCRIPTION:Precious Blood Church Fire of 1875 presentation by Robert Comeau\, in the Community Room at the South Hadley Public Library.  It will be about the May 27 1875 fire at the Precious Blood Church in Holyoke Massachusetts.  55 of the 70 people that died due to the fire are buried at the Precious Blood Cemetery of South Hadley.  I will discuss the fire\, the victims\, and the burials.  I have been able to find the vast majority of the birth and marriage documents of the victims.  I have also been able to find the burial records of the 15 people that were not buried in South Hadley.

SUMMARY:Hip Hop Chair and Line Dance for Seniors!
DESCRIPTION:2025 South Hadley Cultural Council Grant Recipient. Elders do a complete chair\, dance\, warm-up and hip hop class that begins and ends in the chairs. We travel through time on the “Soul Train” and chair dance to clean cut hip hop and R & B songs. We use creative props such as smiley faces and the African maracas to help make our soul train journey come to life. Senior participants will leave feeling more limber.\n\n\nAbout the Instructor: \nRondae Drafts is the former Director of a hip hop dance company in Massachusetts. Professor Drafts has also instructed hip hop dance at MIT where one of the students was wheelchair bound. This was one of the inspirations for this class. The current Executive Director of MUSIC Dance.edu\, Rondae is a Ph.D.abd researching hip hop's impact on contemporary music. She is a Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania native\, that graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication\, she later moved o Massachusetts and received a Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College.

Students will hear a brief presentation about art\, participate in an instructional drawings exercise\, and create art that will be sent to the children in Ukraine. This is a great opportunity for kids from different countries to learn about each other. Fermata Arts Foundation encourages intercultural dialogue between countries. Children will learn that they share common values with kids from all over the world. \nThis program is targeted at students in the 3rd to 5th grades.

DESCRIPTION:DazzleDay Artists have been adding whimsy and sparkle to celebrations since 2009! Our team of artists was born out of our mobile creative enrichment company\, ART-ventures for Kids\, which delivers art education via after school and summer art programs\, as well as arts and craft parties for birthdays. Most importantly\, all our DazzleDay entertainers take great pride in the quality of their entertaining. Our aim is to put a smile on EVERY face. As lovers of all things art\, face painting\, balloon art and glitter and temporary tattoos became the perfect additions to any party! \n– – – \nOur face painters are top-notch and specialize in vibrant and detailed full-face designs. We offer nearly 100 creative and imaginative faces to choose from\, but you can also ask for something "outside the box". They enjoy creating new faces and showing off their talent. \nOur balloon twisters are magical at what they do and mesmerize an entire crowd. Their favorites are dogs on leashes\, swords\, princess wands\, wizard staffs\, long-stemmed flowers\, rabbits\, unicorns\, octopus\, horses\, butterflies\, monkeys\, flower\, turtle and butterfly bracelets and hats\, and more! The kids love having a balloon toy to take home. We also offer two options for balloon twisting\, Standard Balloon Twisting\, using multiple balloons and Fast Balloon Twisting\, using one or two balloons. Check out the differences here. \nOur glitter and temporary tattoo artists have nearly 100 tattoo designs to offer in about 18 different colors of sparkling glitter. Kids\, teens and the young at heart love showing them off for days after the party. Because they are water and sweat proof\, they are a great alternative to face painting at pool parties!

SUMMARY:Children's Music Program With Michelle Kostek
DESCRIPTION:Location: Library Community Room \nMichelle Kostek has been an educator in South Hadley for the past 14 years\, working with preschoolers\, students\, young adults and everything in between! She loves sharing folk songs with all ages\, but especially children’s music groups\, as she encourages them to sing along\, move to the music and enjoy the stories that have been passed down. Michelle studied songwriting and vocal performance at Berklee College of Music before spending several years immersed in Nashville’s songwriter scene. She made her way back to Massachusetts in 2009 and has been teaching and performing ever since. She currently works with multilingual students at Mosier Elementary\, and loves using music in her teaching whenever possible. Michelle also performs at local venues and events as a part of the indie-folk duo The New Domestics. \n  \nClass Description: \nAn interactive music performance for young children and their families. Inspired by the folk music styles of Elizabeth Mitchell and Ella Jenkins\, children will have an opportunity to listen\, sing-along\, explore instruments\, and move to the music. Recommended for children ages 8 and under (though all are welcome!).
